quilting it

Backing arrived in the mail for this quilt. Sometimes it's kind of scary to start the quilting part. Nice corners that match, well ironed quilttop... Inspired by lauren I decided to do a bit of freemotion straight stitch quilting. She does the most beautiful leaves shapes. I made a bit simpler wavy lines. Pretty happy with the result!!!

And how can I not be happy with these fresh colors and Heather Ross' whimsical designs? The backing is the gigant octopi - love it!

Venus - the quilt inspector is testing it. She's thinking about the new year coming up, maybe dreaming of next summer...

christmas tablerunner

Red and white tablerunner finished. Supereasy to make in a bargello technique. I sew 2"strips together in a row wide enough to be the lenght of the tablerunner, and then sew it close in a circle. I lay the fabrcis flat and cut them at 3" strips. Then I us my seamripper and open them up randomly and sew into a top. Squares are 1.5" * 3" finished size.

I love Heather Ross' fun and whimsical designs. This is the first top I have made exclusively of her fabric (in the Mendocini line. ) So happy with the top. Waiting for the backing fabric that's been ordered... Size is 54" * 63".

nice company

Cat companion. She loves to lay down next to my sewingmachine while I am using it. Not very safe! But then, how can I tell her to move away???

In Norway, the 4 sundays before christmas are celebrated lighting the "advent" candles. The first candle is lit on the first sunday of advent, then the second on the next, the third on the following sunday. When the forth candle is lit we all now that christmas is just around the corner. Here is a picture of the lights with my advent tablerunner in mostly batics. Four stars symbolising the four candles.

Lighting candles is one of my favorite things to do in this dark and cold month of desember...
