This quilt is inspired by an image of a man paddling along in his kajack on a quiet fjord, enjoying the morning sun. The name of the quilt came to me as the backing was chosen, it features stamps and old letters. A gift to be.

Also intended for a lovely young lady. Fun border fabric is by Heather Ross and was a gift from a good friend. I think it anchors the quilt in a good way. Very happy with the result, a happy, happy quilt!

This is my wonky / improve take on a classic block. Easy and fun sewing, squaring up the block to 6" and gathering them in columns.  My second time using this design, the first one is blogged here.

Intended as a gift for a very lovely young lady.

The design is a variation on a classic string block, with a fun asymmetrical layout.  The blocks were sewn on paper, and the quilt is intended as a gift for a lovely young lady...

al fresco

An outdoor photoshoot on a sunny and windy spring day. Quilt dancing in the wind. The intense green of the first leaves paired with the yellow green colors in the quilt. Lovely day - lovely quilt!

This is another one in my heartstring series, and I will call this "hope springs eternal / håpet er lysegrønt". It measures 60" * 72", and is longarm-quilted on hobbs thermore and gifted to a young man celebrating his special day today.

These string blocks are simple, but fun to make. I used a lot of my blue fabric precut into 2.5" strips and added thin strings of contrasting colors. Emptying out the long saved selvage strips, just cutting away the thicker selvage part. If that makes any sense. As a result, this one is a library of fabric used over many years. And that is probably part of why parting with this one feels particularly painful.

It was fun bringing the quilt outside for the pictures. I want to do that some more. Colors and light go together, really they depend on each other.

p.s. a great and easy pattern to play with colors. (This one uses 2.5" strips ending of with 2 8" blocks from 2 WOF strips.)

a big bag of

quilts - 16 of them to be precise, have been emptied out of it's content at the local hospital, in the children's ward last friday. The preschool teacher tells us these quilts for their kids are very much appreciated. The kids and teens each get to pick their own quilt to keep. Out of the 16 quilt they received this friday, 4 have found their new owners already. Hopefully the quilts will get a lot of use, and their owners will have some comfort using them...

This stack of colorful goodness were a joint effort from my quilt group: Byquilterne. Well done, ladies!

a puzzle

... in 4 pieces

My biggest quilt (so far) from my pre blog days turned out to be too big to be used in my house.

An irish chain design with red Aunt Grace around the word 30's prints.

A square 92" bed size quilt. Pretty, but too big.

So I cut it in 4 "puzzle" pieces, thinking of my brother's 4 daughters. The first one was gifted this weekend for a birthday present. It was received with a smile. I haven't told her it is part of a puzzle, but really look forward to part with no 2 and 3 in may...

Luckily this one wasn't washed before the "surgery". So it was an easy operation. Now it's washed and crinkly. Hopefully ready to spend less time in a closet, and more time being used!

Do you have a lot of quilts just stored away? I might not feel so bad about storing a pile of quilts if only my house was bigger...

september finish

Eva's garden is finished and gifted. It measures 60" by 75", quilted with baptist fans on Hobbs Thermore batting by the talented Merete.

It was fun making these 15" blocks, balancing variations and repetitions, playing with size and proportions...

And the best part is, it was well received!
