A new quilt is in the making. Inspired by the bold and colorful big prints from Anna Maria Horner, I have been playing with these 6" squares in red / pink colors with a hint of yellow. They are mostly from Good Folks, her latest line.
I like the idea of random. Maybe the idea more than the result. So I start to put a bit of structure into the randomness.
Haven't decided yet which I like the most.... The only problem is that my design "wall" is actually the floor in our living room. And that means I will have to look at this all weekend, or make up my mind. Hmm...
What do you think? The random or the organized version? I am also considering adding a solid sashing between the 9 patches. Any thoughts on this is welcome.
Wish you all a nice weekend!

Hei! Jeg synes faktisk litt regelmessighet her er finest. Superfine stoffer!! Synes du lager veldig fine ting!! Spennende å se hva du ender opp med!!
oh this is just lovely. I love the saturation of color. My preference is for more random but I could be convinced otherwise! If I were going to add a sashing, I'd make it a dark color like charcoal or something like that but I like it very much like it is!
I like this very much. If this were my project I'd do random. However, you have to do what makes your skirt fly up! Good luck, I'm sure whatever you do will look great!
I really like the random! And thanks for doing this, because I really would like to do a random quilt with some 4 inch squares that I have - I think yours looks great (of course, I love the fabric, too!)
Me too! Random. I love the unexpected look, without structure. Your choice though, it's your quilt! I have the same problem with my design wall, but you can add a dog to that mix. He knows not to step on the quilt, but loves to turn it into a game. The anxiety in my voice then escalates the game to snatching some of the blocks. Aaargh!
Your random actually looks surprisingly random. If that make any sense?? Random would be my pick!
No # 1 choice, Random. If you decide to go planned I think it needs sashing between the blocks.
I like the planned look :)
great fabrics!!!!
I have to say I love the random but if you go with sashing, definitely the organised. Both versions will be lovely but it's so hard to choose isn't it?
I like both! I know - no help. lol I think it would be interesting to see how it looked using random AND sashing.
Uansett hva du velger så var det lekre stoffer i skjønne farger! Blir spennende å se det ferdig.
Either way looks great. You can't really go wrong with those fabrics.
But for preference, I like randomness.
Enjoy.
Andi :-)
Hei!
Du har laget utrolig mye fint, har jo sett en del av det på Quiltelaget. Du er veldig kreativ og flink. Jeg syns det siste teppet, der ingenting var i system var finest. Knall fine og herlige farger, som en blir glad av:)
Tough choice - I like them both. Random is hard, but it looks like you did a good job with it. I also like the 9-patches, but I think they're kind of hard to see, which is intriguing. I wouldn't use the sashing with them, just because of that. These are great fabrics/colors, and whatever you decide to do, I think it'll look great!
I'd start with Random, but fix the obvious boo-boos, what I call areas where there are too many darks or brights. You want to keep that "random" feeling and not make it look too planned.
My "design wall" is my dining room floor, so I feel your pain.
with these fabrics, i am greatly preferring random / they are all great, but close enough in shading that the "planned" version feels hard on my eyes that want to find a pattern that's hard to see. with the random i can just let loose and look however i want. ;)
I love the colors, they are so warm. And I would definitely go for the random version, it suits my eyes perfect!
I think these fabrics call for a random look.
Another one calling for random!!!
I love the colours and the fabrics, this is going to be beautiful!
i really like the random look, but them i'm kind of a random kinda gal.
Heisan. Der ligger en award til deg på bloggen min.:)
Thank you all for your feedback! The vote is for random, and I am leaning in that direction myself. So, I will leave this for a while and try to finish up some old wip's...
