hommage a Denyse

It's cold and dark this time of year. Time for a taste of colors. So I cooked me up some colorful cookies. An easy recipe:

one small piece of pattern per block, add solids strings from the scrap bin

Courthouse blocks, inspired by and infused with Denyse Schmidts lovely products.
No sugar, no calories, no regrets...

test pilot...

quilts are softer and warmer than snow...

My little Hommage a Denyse measures 26" by 28", uses the leftover piece of Kyoto bamboo batting and is quilted with perle 16 in my favorite baptist fan pattern.

Grey, dark, cold days...

is enough to make us all dream of new adventures....

It's a busy time of the year. Hope there's still time for you to do some sewing, or if not, to dream up some new quilting adventures!

(I'm dreaming of Denyse's latest fabric line, still not available from the stores yet)

; )

Beautiful Marit and perfect contrast of quilting curves with the angular lines of the fabric. The little cat paw prints in the snow are rather lovely too!

This quilt is lovely! Did you put borders around the cookies? Usually I can see the seams, but these look as if they are floating on the background. I LOVE it. You have inspired me. Maybe I will make one of these, maybe. ;)

Very pretty - and I agree, necessary during these dark winter months! I have to ask you about your Baptist fans - do you mark them, and if so, do you use a stencil? I've been wanting to try them but not sure how to mark them.

Gorgeous as usual and a great use of strings. The Baptist fan is my all time favourite quilting pattern too.

Congratulations for such a perfect quilting! Besides, the colours are lovely.
It must be very nice having Christmas with snow. Here it is so hot.
Happy New Year!

Love the baptist fan quilting. Small projects can be so satisfying...I need to do more! I didn't know Denyse has a new line coming out so I went and looked. Very unusual color scheme but very interesting.

Oh Marit, how beautiful! I love your colours and your quilting... I agree with you regarding the traditional baptist fan, it just adds such movement to the quilt!
I am sending you plenty of blue sky and warmer weather from here. And I wouldn't mind you sharing some snow! LOL
Hoping you have a really wonderful Christmas and a creative New Year!
