in good company ...

... hello kitty!

A finished quilt top from my last post. I am in good company making these fun cross blocks.

A big yawn. Seen it all. So what's new?

It's summer. Blue skies...

A bit of reading / relaxing / dreaming...

Daydreaming...

But what about the good company?

Psst... I'll tell you a secret. I am in good company, good virtual company. Can you believe it. I managed to sneak into the latest issue of Fat Quarterly.

Psst - don't tell anybody. And if you don't believe me, you better go and get yourself an issue while it's all fresh from the press. Lots of inspiration and lovely reads.

So, have fun. And maybe you'll find yourself daydreaming a bit - about quilts and fabric...

wip

Summer is playing it's tricks around here, on and off, sunny and rainy days.

So that's a chance to cut into some of my stash. Inspiration was plenty, I have seen several pretty cross block quilts over at Jennifer, Carla, Joan and Amy. I'm sure there are more. This is a fun pattern.

I have a special somebody in mind ... thinking pink and yellow will be a good choice for her.

My blocks are 12" and 6" finished size. I have not added extra seam allowance. So I have practiced a scant 1/4" seam. Next time I will add an inch and square them off.
So far this will be 48" by 60". I might go bigger. There is no tight deadline...

The more 12" blocks you make, the quicker this pattern comes together...

strictly selvage

Another small quilt "pink xoxo" is completed. It's 25" * 34", and made the same way as this one.

I like to play with different color combinations, so when I decided to use my saved selvage strips, I just divided what I had in two groups.

I had a lot of fun making both of these. I am still saving my selvage, aiming for a bigger quilt next time?

Pink and yellow. The quilt and the peony, both! The flower was rescued inside from the wind and rain yesterday afternoon (I know, the calendar says summer...) and rewarded me this morning with a beautiful flower. It is my very first home grown peony ever. Can you tell I'm proud?

So, this pretty flower is a thank you, Karen, for a very sweet post, today, on your lovely Selvage Blog!!! A great place for inspiration!

a summer quilt

Some patterns are fun to make over and over again. Admittedly, this is only my second version. But there are so many fun options with the traditional tumbler quilts.

This time i used a mix of fabrics in a pink and green palette. There are some Lecien, some woven, a few stripes and some squares from different charm packs in here:

Outdoor and indoor pictures gives very different results. To show you the full quilt, I put it up on the wall:

"Romantic tumbler" finished at 36" * 58". It is hand-quilted with Finca cotton no 16. The batting is Quilters Dream Select. I pieced the back:

Now I am tempted to cut into my Heather Ross stash for the next take on this old favorite pattern...

Do you have a pattern you like to make many versions of?
