Most of my vintage sheets are 6" squares. I am also lucky to have a few bigger pieces.
I wanted to use them to their maximum - and decided to try a quilt-as-you-go wall size!
After doing this fun technique earlier in blocks, it was time for expanding the possibilities. For the base I choose a Quilters Dream Poly batting, thinking it would be sturdy enough for this technique.
The first picture shows the vintage linens I wanted to include in the quilt. I started placing the center piece and quilt it. Second round came together quickly. Third row followed. By now, I had used 4 of my 6 vintage pieces. And the decisions on how to proceed got harder.
This is where I am now, testing out the final round of prints and solids. It will be framed in white and end at about 60" by 85".
Here are some of my options:
Sorry if I made you fall asleep...

I like several of them. The quilt is going to be a celebration of spring, decorating the dining room. What do you think - do you see any favorites that stand out?

My two very favorite colors! What a lovely Spring quilt this will be. So many choices and I truly couldn't pic a favorite. Looking forward to seeing what you decide.
Golly - they are all lovely! But I guess I love the first one best. Have fun!
really truly they all look great... totally your preference!
My favorites are 8 and 9, but they all work. The linens are so fresh and sweet. And your quilting looks great. I'm going to have to try that technique.
i really like number 6
What fun! I can't really say which layout is my fav, but I DON'T like 2, 3 and 4 because of the darker blue strip down the right hand side deminates and gives it a very 'up down' feel. Hope that helps a little :)
I like layout 6 the best...but they are all beautiful! Love the colors.
Layout 6 or 7 are my favorits. I like your way of showing different layouts....I don't fall asleep!
2 & 9 are my favs. For the reason others have mentioned NOT liking them, LOL-the darker blue in them.
Wonderful fabrics! I like no 2 and 9 best.
Think of so many combinations there can be... My fav's are 6 and 7...:0)
Will be fun to see which one you chose... Good luck!
I like 9 the best. At first the dark blue disturbed me and felt out of place. But the position it's in now seems to be valid...decisions, decisions.
It's going to be lovely and very spring like. Layout 7 is a standout for me. Photos are a good way to see them all in a different light.
For what it is worth, I like 7 and 9. Not sure exactly why. The values of the strips seem balanced. Nine reminds me of a giant log cabin block. Seven seems very grounded with the large blue piece at the bottom.
Layout 7 gets my vote...followed by layout 1....reason--the aqua fabric! I'm not as drawn to the ones with the darker blue. I'm excited tosee what you decide!
Hei!! 6 og 7!! Morsomt innlegg!! Jeg er fornøyd med meg selv, fordi jeg har en ide i boka mi. Men det er bare å få satt den ut i livet! Og så finner jeg ikke kvart inch foten min, og da sliter jeg.......Ha en fin dag!! AnneK:-)
Hi Marit! Glad to know these fabrics are going into such a great quilt! It will look lovely any way you choose.
