march finish

I keep up my quest of turning quilt tops into quilts, this year. This one is quilted by the lovely Merete. My "Peonies" finished at 45" * 60". The batting is a favorite: Quilters Dream Select.

This one looks quite simple and innocent, don't you think?

The truth be told, it wasn't a straight forward process, at all. The romantic, big prints from Amy Butler tempted me into making big simple blocks, some 3 years ago? And I put them all together, side by side. (No picture) A bit busy, and overwhelming, the top was put aside for more than 2 years. Next attempt was to make those blocks into rows with some Kona Snow to let them breath. It worked a lot better, but the shape was clumsy (4 bars made an almost square size). The break-through in the design came when I moved one of the bars onto the back...

a pink cotton/ linen blend. I'm glad I didn't give up on this one.

Thank you all for leaving me your lovely and friendly comments. Please know that I appreciate this. For the time being I am a bit more quiet than usual, and this will probably last for a while longer. My family needs more attention than normal, and I need to spend more time with them. And I need to keep sewing, too. Because it is very calming...

So take care, and hopefully you have some sewing to keep you busy, too...

Nydelig quilt! Jeg burde gi meg selv det samme løftet som deg - å lage ferdige quilter av alle toppene jeg har. Er bare så fristende å begynne på noe nytt.... Gi familien den tiden dere trenger, det er viktigere enn alt annet! Klem

Odd numbers often work better in designs than even- with that block on the back maybe that is why both sides worked so well. Hope you and your family are ok x

I love the results of your patience and persistence. So simple and so stunning! The back is as lovely as the front. Thank you for sharing even as your family requires more of your time. Hopefully, the time you take to share with us will give you back that little bit extra you need when ordinary life gets wonky. Quilting can be such a comfort, taking one stitch at a time.

Beautiful quilt!! This is such a wonderful example of sticking with a project and figuring out its best configuration. It's probably even more satisfying now, isn't it?

I have met Merete!!! Just came across your blog, looking for a quick, easy quilt, lovely! Merete and I both own the same type of computerized quilting system, and have met her a couple of times at shows! I am going to use this quilt as a design inspiration, I hope that it is all right with you!

I love your quilt!! Thanks for sharing. I just might use this idea with some Good Fortune fabric that I have - wouldn't that look good too? Hope you don't mind that I pinned your quilt on Pinterest for future reference. Oh! And I started following your blog too!
