a celebration

This weekend my quilt group Byquilterne (The City Quilters) celebrated our 10 year jubilee with a quilt exhibition. We were able to rent a local community center. The group of 23 women all contributed quilts for this event.

I was part of the committee responsible for presenting the exhibition and making it all look good. We sorted and grouped bigger and smaller quilts, bags and framed art quilts mainly organizing it all by color. Friday afternoon we were busy climbing ladders and carrying heavy items, designing the displays one by one. The four of us had a good workout...

; )

These rods were perfect to display lap size quilts...

A tree full of hotpads...

Building some walls to divide the room ...

The exhibition was open saturday and sunday. We had a little lottery to give the visitors a chance to win a little something to bring home. They could also have a cup of coffee or tea and a piece of homemade cake in the lobby outside the exhibition room.

It was a weekend full of happy smiles and lovely comments! The members in Byquilterne all took turns manning the different tasks. We had a good turn up. Don't be fooled by the empty room in these pictures, as a member of the committee I was the first to show up (literary holding the key   ; )   )

It was lovely to see how well the quilts complimented each other. Celebrating the diversity, skills and personality of all the members. Thank you to all who participated and to all the lovely visitors!

fun exhibition! I don't know who made it, but I love the zig-zag (bargello) that goes from cool to hot!

Hei!! AnneKari:-)

Quilt shows are just so much fun--lots of work--but I love to see what other creative people have made.
