wanna tri ?

My new wednesday wip is another equilateral triangle top (my second, so far...)

I am celebrating a little milestone as this is my 300th post. And I have had a gentle push from a lovely lady (that's you Carla) to have a kind of quilt-along (QAL) on my next triangle quilt.

So, here's my plan:

  • My third tri (equilateral triangle aka 60 degree triangle) is next in line
  • I will post about my design process: selecting fabric, cutting the shapes, finding a good layout
  • There will be a few examples of how to sew the pieces into a top

Some of you may be inspired to have a go at your own, and "have a tri". We will have a flickr group to share pictures, and thoughts on our work in progress.

It's the kind of quilt-along where there will be no finished pattern, but several ideas of layouts for you to try out. More about how to trust in the process of using a design wall and make decisions as you go. Maybe we can call it a play-along?

I invite you to post your questions in the comment to my tri QAL posts, and I will do my best to answer them in my next post.

I am planning to post the steps as I go, and I would like to start as soon as I have made todays wip into a flimsy (finished top), freeing up the design wall.

Oh, Carla, what have you tricked me into...

; )

I love your triangle quilt and would love a quilt-along. What ruler do you use, or is it an Accuquilt die?
