finished top

The blue string blocks are set in a blue sashing. The top is all done, just waiting to be quilted. I posted about the blocks earlier. Since it is pieced on foundation muslin it is a bit heavier. I am thinking about having it quilted on a longarm. Size is ca 60"x75".

Do any of you have any experience and or advise on how to quilt this kind of quilt on a regular sewing machine? Ideas are most welcome...

Have a nice week, and thank you for stopping by ; )

Love the blocks, love the sashing -- great work!

I might make a case for tying it, since the strips are pieced on a foundation, so the raw edges are well protected. it depends what you're planning with this quilt and how heavy the use is.

Your quilt looks great - I love those flashes of orange streaking across the blocks.

I had my string quilts long-arm quilted, but that's because I don't do my own quilts anymore. They are pretty heavy and thick. You could also tie, like Brenda suggests.

Last week, I quilted a top made of charm squares with gray sashing. In the sashing area, I just did a wavy line. I absolutely love it.

Luv it! Looks great!

You can absolutely quilt this quilt on your machine. Just go for it!

i think i diagonal grid would look fab on this quilt...you could definitely handle that with this size quilt.

Flott quilt, spennende å se hvordan du ender opp med å quilte denne.

I have quilted these string quilts on my regular machine with no problem- some I did circles in each squares, others I have done diagonal straight line stitching. Yes, they are heavier to do free motion quilting on, but, it is possible-just tiring!
