No, no, no - it's a struggle for me!

I managed to make this layout - believe me finding the hexagon layout was not easy.

I did not manage to print the hexagons on paper to cut into templates, and to be honest, that is quite a frustration...

Anybody out there who would have succeded printing hexagon templates (more than one) from EQ6?

Maybe its me, maybe I'm hexed...

This is a section of what is up on my "design wall" (batting) today.

Attending Kaffe Fassett's lecture Concentrate on Color, a month ago, I had the pleasure of both seeing and touching this very pretty Diagonal Madness Quilt:

I just fell in love right there...

When I received his book Country Garden Quilts, a week later, I stumbled across the design again. What can a girl do?

After digging through my stash, doing some additional fabric shopping, washing and cutting the fabric, I was ready to trow myself into the madness...

Love the craziness and colors. So far, so good....

a finish

An old ufo (unfinished object) has been transformed into a little quilt: sweet pastel 36" * 45". It has wool batting (a first for me) and is hand-quilted. I have played around with several layouts of these blocks, but ended up with this checkerboard...

Lovely Kaffe Fassett prints and shot cottons.

Have a seat, will you? It's time for a bit of show and tell:

I want to show you my cats in the garden quilt. It is made of thrifted cotton shirts and linen trousers, vintage kimono silk, homespuns, a bit of velvet, and some japanese fabric from my stash.

The quilt measures about 70" * 82" , is hand stitched over 6" batting squares (a bit like english paper-piecing, my technique), and hand-quilted using a sheet for backing and binding (folded to the front). I started working on this in april 2008, and finished the quilt the summer of 2009.

It is now up on the wall in our living room, hanging on little clips in an old fashion curtain slider fashion. This way it is easy to replace and switch the quilts by season. Not all quilts are made for beds. Not in my house, that is...

Thank you Spirith Cloth for inspiration on using different kinds of fabric, and also for your wonderful cats in cloth!

Also, thank you Amy, for hosting this wonderful quilt show, no traveling cost, no entrance fee, just take your time and travel the list as much as you like!

finished tops

Two finished tops: added white sashing to the Scrappy Christmas Swap and decided to go with the blue fabric for the inner border on my Bonnie's Stars.

Thank you all for your votes on this last one. I still like both options, but made my decision to go for the blue.

October is a bit wet and windy this weekend. Nice weather for inside projects... Enjoy the rest of the weekend!
