a little romance

These romantic tumblers are a nice contrast to the cold winter landscape outside!
They have been gathering for some time in a box, waiting to reach "critical mass" for a lap quilt. I have cut into my Lecien fabric, and found a few from various charm packs, picked some different stripes and plaids - kind of a shabby chick mix...

Bleak winter light on the batting "design wall". I'm using the same plastic template as I did last time for my Vintage Tumblers. The layout is 16 patches wide and 21 rows: about 36" * 58". Love this easy sewing, just paring the two groups together, sewing more than half of the top before putting them up and distribute the different prints in a pleasing manner.

My temporary design wall is making the process so much easier for me than before, cheating the cats out of a lot of fun ... Its nice to se this one coming together, finally moving out of the box.

Anyone else dreaming of spring and summer?

; )

Romance, comfort, warmth...those colors work wonderfully together. Very subtle. Beautiful, beautiful!

Chicago is FINALLY above freezing for the first time in almost a month -- we're awakening again, even for just a few days!

It looks so soft and pretty! I'm guessing the first picture shows the true colours. Are you going to hand quilt it?

very cute! I have also started piecing pairs randomly before arranging quilt layouts, when that's the kind of quilt I'm making. It saves time and works just as well as agonizing over the layout when your pieces are still all separate.

How pretty! Yes, I am dreaming of summer.....warm breezes and sunshine in abundance. It didn't feel like we had summer last year, it was so cold and grey!

That is so pretty! Love those fabrics, and the classic design. I'm definitely dreaming of spring. Every morning, I check the weather section of the paper, and celebrate how many more minutes of sunlight we'll have that day (3 more today - yay!). It's on its way, slowly but surely!
