a summer quilt

Some patterns are fun to make over and over again. Admittedly, this is only my second version. But there are so many fun options with the traditional tumbler quilts.

This time i used a mix of fabrics in a pink and green palette. There are some Lecien, some woven, a few stripes and some squares from different charm packs in here:

Outdoor and indoor pictures gives very different results. To show you the full quilt, I put it up on the wall:

"Romantic tumbler" finished at 36" * 58". It is hand-quilted with Finca cotton no 16. The batting is Quilters Dream Select. I pieced the back:

Now I am tempted to cut into my Heather Ross stash for the next take on this old favorite pattern...

Do you have a pattern you like to make many versions of?

What a lovely quilt.

I suppose stars are my favourite with 9 patches running a close second.

I have never made a tumbler quilt either. I love disappearing nine patch. I also like the great things you can do with rail fence. Often you can take a simple pattern and do interesting things with it.

Your tumbler looks gorgeous. I bet it looks even better in real life because softer colours are hard to photograph.
I don't have a favourite pattern but I have done three New York Beauty quilts.

This is a beautiful summer quilt. I like to use triangles and this is pretty close.

"Summer quilt" is the perfect name for that perfection! I want to do a tumbler pattern sometime. What size is each tumbler in your quilt? I have made several versions of Yellow Brick Road over the years and loved each one. Nine patch 4 patch are also favorites for scraps.

I love your new tumbler quilt, even the back is fabulous. I must admit, I am in love with the disappearing 9 patch. Every time I make one, I'm amazed at how such an easy pattern can yield such lovely results. I am also a great fan of 4 patch and 9 patch blocks. I do see a tumbler quilt on the horizon for me. Thanks for the inspiration.

Love your quilt. I especially like the pink and green color.
My favorite block has always been the Log Cabin block.

So soft looking; your quilt is just lovely! I adore pink and green.
Seems like I keeping coming back to the four patch, and other simple blocks. They can stand alone, or be combined with other blocks. I particularly like little four patchs - cute!

I love it, Marit! It is so soft and romantic. I think a Heather Ross one is a great idea. What size tumbler did you use?

I keep adding the tumbler to my list of must dos, then forgetting about it, and adding it again! One day I will get it done, it looks wonderful in any fabric, doesn't it?

My favourite has to be half square triangles, they are so versatile and I love all the trimming of the little dog ears.

A lovely tumbler quilt! My box of tumblers is filling fast and I look forward to piecing them together. A pattern I have repeated twice so far is the Dresden Plate.

You did a wonderful job!

I adore the tumbler block! I made a quilt in it for my hubby and he loves it. I really like the disappearing 9 patch and I've made a few in that pattern. I've always been tempted to make another tumbler quilt and I think I might be doing that soon!

Gorgeous quilt Marit.
So soft and pretty.
Personally, I can't go past a simple squares quilt.
So simple and really show off the fabrics. I just want to make them again and again.

Love this quilt Marit! So romantic and sweet!

I’m a lover of pin wheels and triangles, but I hardly ever repeat blocks. I need to make me a tumbler quilt now!

Your summer quilt shows how versatile you are. I am used to your bright tones in the most recent quilts but looking back, I was surprised to see the soft pastel colours in this quilt. How very flexible you are.You must have a large stash!
