Just finished putting together a quilt top (47" * 65") from 30's fabric. This is a "classic" tumbler quilt pattern. Trying to get the random look. Limiting my colors to yellows, greens, blue, purple and black. Using charm pack squares and 1/2 yrds from my stash. Adding a few finds from this summer. Churning them all through the BabyGo! cutter. And then some hours of hassle free sewing, piece after piece. By the end I needed the seam ripper to replace a few patches that wouldn't blend well with the next row.
I like how the black patches add a bit of punch to the mix.
There's still a bit of 30's left in the stash. But then, there's a few other bundles I need to take a look at. Maybe reducing my stash will be my focus in 2012? Strangely it keeps growing... even if there's no more room to do so.
Wish you all a lovely weekend!

Looks very nice! I love the 30s fabrics together with the blacks. So the look is not so "sweet".
I have the same problem with my stash - no more room to store any more, but I still "need" so many fabrics. At least the accuquilt helps with the cutting. :-)
i love how you added the blacks! 2012 definitely needs to be the year of stash reduction for me as well.
adding black to quilts in a mimimal amount makes the other colors pop more in mho....
looks great aren't tumbler quilts fun?
Kathie
My stash keeps doing the same thing. Do you think it may be a Scandinavian thing? I could blame it on my genes? No? Love the look of the quilt I was thinking the same thing about the black blocks and then read your comment..cool eh?
Very nice! I totally understand how the stash keeps growing :)
Looks great. Give's me some ideas to use my scraps. Very, very nice!
Wow, I like the black too! I just got a GoBaby and the tumbler block Is fun to put together : )
lovely! I've always wanted to make a tumbler quilt, but alas, no Go cutter. as for stash busting, sometimes we need a few new pieces to play with the old ones....or so I tell myself. great finish!
Nice! Makes me want a Go! Baby more because I wouldn't trust myself to cut these out by myself. :-)
Love the quilt Marit.
I have the same problem with my stash growing, I don't know how that happens.
Hei igjen!! AnneH:-)
I love the feel of this quilt. Your randomness works beautifully!
Oh, the plaids, the dots, and the black really punch up these lovely 30's prints. You are so good with color. This is a beautiful quilt!! How will you finish the side edges?
i love adding a little black to things too. Awesome tumbler!!
pretty quilt top! I love my tumbler die too! Although I haven't ventured into an actual large project yet... so far just sewing machine covers and mug rugs with rows of tumblers pieced in. fun! Love the polka dots in there too :-)
this is really beautiful...the tumblers are so fun and 30's fabric is my favorite
I have the tumbler die cut and really like it. Your quilt is lovely--especially the addition of black!
Love it! I have that cutter, too and need to make one of those. Maybe soon.
Tumbler block makes a very nice quilt...that scrapy look is great.
I just finished a tumbler block, trying to use up the last of the 30s fabric. So quick and easy, I know there will be another: great for stash busting.
Very fun! I may have to ask Santa to put that cutter under the tree for me!
Oh, how cute!
great quilt and I like the black patches too!
