finished top

This top was started back in january as a result of some blog inspiration, a charm pack from thimbleberries and some fabric from my stash. The blocks are 4" in a shooting stars pattern.

This week I rearranged the blocks into a 10 by 14 size, added the inner border, the lovely Alex Anderson toile fabric (also from stash) and some dark cornerstone blocks. Size is now about 60" * 76". The framing really changed the looks of the top! I am so in love with the toile bird fabric!

So, maybe I can work on finishing the "twin" to?

ruby red

Pretty, sweet and tasty, too. Short traveled food - from the garden to my breakfast. Lovely ruby red currant and black currant waiting to be collected. So we did, yesterday. And today I can have some for breakfast. Keep your joys simple...

There is a very popular food festival Gladmat opening in my town, Stavanger, today. Lots of people and good food. Lets hope the sun will come too. And let us all enjoy the little treats of summer while they are here!

mini quilt monday

Playing with red and aqua. About 14" squares. I tossed in some of my selvedges here. And I still need to make some new hotpads.
Oh, well ...

love of lavender

Inspired by the colors in my garden, I wanted to bring some of these inside... A little something for the table. Starting with strings in a range of green and purple, just improvising...

Nothing finished yet. We'll see.

a little sunshine - 2 of 5

Photos are taken outside in the sun with a little help of hubby. I have blogged about this a few times earlier. Now it is all finished, quilted with simple stippling. For some reason that didn't go so smooth :(.

Still I love it, the colors and the bits of favorite Kaffe Fassett and Heather Ross fabrics.

I think this one will stay with me!

a wip

Added a few of these patriotic 6" paper pieced stars this week. I have used my EQ6 for the foundations. I think it is more than a year ago since I pieced the first ones. So it is a slow wip. I love star blocks and this is a way to make some of them myself. 6" blocks are quite small, maybe 9" or even 12" would be a better choice?

new bags

Some time a go I found a nice, big purple linen tablecloth at a flee marked. Now it is turned into this bag. I folded the fabric and quilted away... The bag is double layered with 6 layers in the bottom. Added some pockets in the same way, and also found a use for these pretty cotton /linen fish. It is soft with a bit of body. My machine was not happy with the thickest layers, but working a bit slower helps.

This next one is also quilted. Love this classic Marimekko fabric, it comes in many pretty color ways. This was not a canvas, so i layered it with 3 layers of batting and a white cotton lining and did a lot of straight line quilting. This one has one big pocket, divided in 2 for cell phone and wallet. The design is my own and have been used in a few bags already.
Love how crisp and clean those pretty flowers look!

swap twins

This is the placemat I made for Michelle in the placemat swap.

She mentioned a little design I made earlier, so I wanted to make her a little girl with an orange dress. When I saw her, I knew she wanted a twin, for me to keep... So I had to make one...

swap happy

I have been participating in a placemat swap organized by the lovely krom mama. I was lucky to get hooked up with Michelle B from MichelleSews. This was a two way swap, where you could exchange wishes and requests before you got started with the sewing. I have sent off the placemat I made for Michelle.

Yesterday I received the quilt she made for me. I am SPEACHLESS and IN SHOCK. It is a piece of art, beautiful and very special. Beautiful fabrics and lovely quilting. Even my hubby gave it big praise. Michelle, maybe you should have put it in an exhibition? I have put it up on the wall, on my Snowwhite. It is so Summer and I LOVE IT! Thank you, thank you!

pink peonies

I have blogged about this quilt earlier. And now it's finished - my Pink Peonies is up on my bedroom wall as my indoor summer garden. The first picture show how it is hung in the curtain slider solution with clips, real easy - no hanging sleeve.

I quilted this on machine in straight rows, 1.5" apart, with stitch length 4.5. It is 27" by 60" with a bleached, white cotton batting. Very happy with how it turned out.

Hope you all have some pretty flowers to look at, indoor or outdoor...
