solid string top

Inspired by Gwen Marston's book Liberated String quilts I put together a quilt top.This is my first attempt working with solids. Her book is full of inspiring quilts and I am sure I'll have to try more of her techniqes.

This spring I put together a white quilt, snowwhite - as a backdrop for smaller quilts I had yet to make. Today I counted my smaller wall quilts: I have made seven this year and they are all handquilted. Again, thanks to Tonya for her tutorial on handquilting fans!!! I am a happy quilter ;)

From left to right you can have a glimpse of tea for two , my spring 4SQS (made a copy for myself in other colors), my maverick stars, more maverick stars, square in a square, halloween I and halloween II

My halloween II with binding. I struggled a bit to find the right fabric for binding at first. This one has tiny flowers on it, and is very cute....

Another little finish. Earlier I posted about how I was playing with my Amy Butler charm pack. I put these blocks aside for a while. Finally I took my seamripper and undid all but three of the blocks. Two of them ended up as a little tablerunner. I am happy with this, just love the colors!!!

falling in love, twice

It just happend in a split second. I can't help it, I just did... First I fell in love with the big zig zag quilts. Thinking about making one in purple, yellow and orange. Then I saw this beautiful quilt over at a quilt is nice. And there was no mistake, I was completely and hopelessly in love...

The good thing is, I had a lot of the fabric I needed waiting in my stash. It was purchased this summer in Seattle, at Quiltfest. The orange as a potential apron, the rest because of their beauty. Who can resist Heather Ross' Medocini line? (Not me...) So I started cutting and sewing. The quilt will be 45" by 60" I think. I don't have enough fabric, so I ordered another half a yard.

This will be my fifth orange and blue quilt this year. I guess that will qualify orange and blue as my favorite color combination this year?

a new beginning ...

a little finish

Remember this little quilt? I like the look of crincled softness after I washed it and dried it in the tumbledryer. Warm & Natural cotton batting and machinepiecing does the trick - I guess. Now, I'll just wait for the little princess to arrive. Sometime before christmas...
